Prisoner At Dusk

listening to: Rammstein - Amour

I think I haven’t ranted much these past few weeks. Truth is I was too lazy. I guess my old self is coming back to haunt the hell outta me. It’s been quite hectic lately since class started and I’ve pretty much been involved in some stuff; nothing too big I suppose if compared to the debaters. I’d like to join the Matriculation Debating team, really. Debating is really fun for me. University debating, as I was told, is really different than the usual school debate, where there are two teams each representing the Government/Affirmative and the Opposition/Negative, 3 speakers on each side. First speaker with roughly 8 minutes to introduce their stand and lay down their arguments, the second and third speaker will well…speak later on, and then there’s a 3-minute break followed by a reply speech. Neat eyh? And what’s better is that we have a few days prior to the debate itself to prepare our arguments, and knowing which side you’re on an hour before the debate is real excellent compared to what I’ve been told about a University debate…*sigh* It’s basically…suicide. You get to know the topic 30-damn-minutes before the debate itself, and each has to talk around 8 minutes, without any 3-minute break for a reply speech. Harder, isn’t it? At least that’s what I thought. But I still wanna go. Have to go if I wanna achieve what I wanna achieve, dude. But it is a love affair, don’t get me wrong. Have always preferred debating to public speaking; you argue, therefore it’s a much more natural process as far as I’m concerned.

Class. Right. Class is really something. Insyaallah I’ll be there for only a year, thus the seemingly jampacked schedule. I’m only seriously packed on Wednesdays, only 2 hours worth of break from 10am-11am, followed by Arabic then another break for Zuhur (and if time permits, lunch..XOXO!) from 1pm-2pm. And it really doesn’t help that I eat like a snail. Oh wait. I think snails eat faster than I do. Hell, someone might already be in Nagasaki by the time I finish my nasik! Last Friday I was bloody busy with Moot Club meeting at *supposedly* 12noon, then as always, we only convened at around 1, and it took about 45 minutes, and by that time time is running out already as my Arabic Lecturer wanted to start class half an hour earlier than the 3pm schedule. Perhaps she wanted to go home earlier. But then again, she didn’t show up cuz she was sick. At ITL (Introduction to Law, Ms Nadz’s class) we were told there’s gonna be a Parliamentary Debate, and we were divided into 3 groups; A,B, and C with the Government Ministers and the Opposition consisting of 4 people respectively. I got group B. GOV-freakin-MENT!! I’ve never had the chance to be in the opposing team, which I think is much much easier. Aaah..ever the pessimist aren’t we? Anyway, it’s always been the opinion of mine that it’s easier to find the holes in something than trying to uphold it. Hmmm…She’ll tell us the details next week, hopefully. The thing’s in like…2 weeks or something. Damn. Busy, busy, busy, busy, need a vacation! Then in about five weeks we’ll have the Legal Career Exhibition, which I’ve aptly shortened to LXPO. Apparently, without any form of formal consensus, I’m to be the Project Manager/Team Leader/Director…whatever you might wanna call it. They pretty much left it for me to decide. Meeesh. It’s not that I’m being a control freak or something, but I kinda appreciate it. Though it’s gonna be quite a challenge now hence. I need to think about a LOT of things, dude…GPL 1 (General Principles of Law 1) is pretty damn neat, though. It’s basically A-Levels Law, with tons of English cases. Reading cases have yet to become a burden to me. The judges’ notes are dead hilarious! In the first semester we’re only gonna learn Law of Contract, which I thought was gonna be a sedative (dude…I love serial killers..contracts? peesh!) but turns out it’s fun after all! Great thing bout it is my friend and I will crack some stupid "Contract" jokes and people who’ve yet to read on the topic or are not Law students might not understand. To think about it, I’ve two tutorials to complete. *sigh*. Tutorials in Oxbridge is between a max of 3 students and a tutor who is a resident at the same college. No matter, I can always go there for my Masters *amiiiiinnnnn*. ILH (Islamic Legal History) is cool too I guess. Can’t wait to really use the Quran translation as a textbook hohohoho~~~~I’m lovin the subjects. Even Arabic which has 12 contact hours (that’s a whole lotta contact hours mind you!) is great! It helps that the Ustazah is damn good, she just makes everything seem easy. Downside….I left my book by accident at Aroma Cafe, realized it later that night, went there the next day and the taukeh there said he gave it to someone since he thought it was real urgent. I’m praying to God whoever that was who got my book would just leave it there so i can go pick it up! Damn! I’ve done tons of exercise in there dude!Law books are real expensive, too~~

Now I’m doin research on the stuff I need to put in the booklet for the Moot Workshop. It’s getting pretty late, but what needs to be done must be done! Ganbarou ze!!!
